my top 5 {current} favorite anime couples

Why don't we kickstart this new adventure with a fun list. Can't really go wrong with that, can you?

I've started watching anime ever since I came to college. And I love it. I really only watch shojo anime or slice of life. I'm a real sucker for romance and boi is there a whole bunch to watch. It just makes me so happy to see these people together, even though sometimes you just want to bash their heads in and tell them to go talk to each other cough kimi ni todoke cough cough. 

Anywho, let's get into it. I should say that there may be some spoilers so read at your own risk.

5. Shota Kazehaya and Sawako Kuronuma | Kimi Ni Todoke |

These two.

These two.

Wow they are so sweet and precious to the point where it is almost coma inducing. They are so pure and I love them so much. But gosh they really need to talk to each other. That is my only complaint about these two. 

I've been really slowly reading the manga, and it's kinda really hard to read, in a sense? Like, JUST SPEAK TO EACH OTHER. I thought the problem was me but when I breezed through Kamisama Hajimemashita in two days I realized that Kimi Ni Todoke is juuuust a pretty slow read.

But because of how adorable they are and how much I love Kazehaya they ended up on this list (but there were so many other couples that almost beat them that I'm thinking I might have to do another list.)

4. Hak and Yona | Yona of the Dawn |

Hak. My man Hak. Like. Hak.

Does my brain stop functioning every time he comes on screen. I mean, yeah. But who's wouldn't?

But besides just Hak, the relationship between these two is amazing. The princess and her bodygaurd. I love how Hak protects Yona and how she in her own way is looking out for him. And while I'm pretty sure they aren't officially together, like, c'mon.

3. Tomoe and Nanami Momozono | Kamisama Hajimemashita |

When you've read the whole story (or watched the anime and the OVAs), like, so much makes sense. I watched the two seasons and then watched the OVA. And then a couple months later I went back and rewatched the show and like. SO MUCH MAKES SENNNSNEEEE. 

And then if you read the manga even more makes sense and you're just sitting there like 👁👄👁

Just the progression of their relationship in the show is amazing, without knowing any of the background information. They sorta have the same guard/person you guard relationship that Hak and Yona have, but it is different.

And this next section here is gonna be a spoiler so just go on and skip it if you don't want the OVAs or the manga spoiled:

I was rewatching the anime and in the episode where Narukami turns Tomoe small with Ookuninushi's lucky mallet and stuff. ANYWAYS. When Nanami asks him what he wants, he has like this flashback thing and asks for rice cakes

WHEN HE WAS INJURED

AND NANAMI WAS PRETENDING (ish) TO BE YUKIJI

idk if that made sense but on the rewatch i noticed a bunch of small things like that and yeah. 

also I realized that in the english dub, Mizuki and Su-Won from Yona have the voice actors and I was shooketh

2. Izumi Miyamura and Kyoko Hori | HoriMiya |

I freaking love this anime. Like. It is almost my number one favorite. And the anime that it didn't beat has the couple that these two came in second to. 

BUT YEAH.

HoriMiya just finished streaming and like, I am very sad that the show has ended but gosh darnit I love them. They have like, this amazing adorableness and they talk  to each other. I love Miyamura and Hori separately but them together woooo (also low-key, Miyamura was so freakin hot when he had his long hair up I was kinda sad when he cut it).

Their relationship is so wholesome and you could watch them forever. I love the way that Miyamura gets along with Hori's family.

And while the anime skips a lot (but does so tastefully), gosh the manga has so much more of them that I love. I love anime's where the main couple gets together early on and you really start to see them grow together as a couple instead of having a few shots while the credits of the final episode roll. But I had never seen it done so well. 

They just had such a beautiful relationship and I'm sad that the anime is done but once I finish reading the manga and rewatched the series I'll have to write a review because it is more than just this couple that makes HoriMiya amazing (although they are a big part)

but i have to say sengoku saying that miyamura is on his period and that he is a victim of a (planned) terrorist attack with always have me in tears gosh i love this so much

Honorable Mention: Chika Kudo and Satowa Hozuki | Kono Oto Tomare |

Before we get to my absolute favorite couple, we need to have an honorable mention. They're really only honorable mentions because they're still not together and while they are on that tract, they are not so close as Yona and Hak.

FREAKING CHIKA AND SATOWA.

Kono Oto Tomare is another of my absolute favorite animes (the Tenkyuu scene will always give me chills). And these two are so cute with their banter and both of them discovering ✨feelings✨ is so cute. I hope we get to see the two of them get together because they oh-so-obviously have feelings for each other. 

1. Kyo Soma and Tohru Honda | Fruits Basket |

OKAY SO THESE TWO WILL FOREVER BE MY OTP YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO CHANGE MY MIND.

Fruits Basket is my absolute favorite anime. And while I know that this is supposed to be about Kyo and Tohru right now, let me just say: I love every single character (except Akito rn but I have a feeling that the Final Season and the manga will change my mind). The animation (also I should say that I've only seen the first two seasons of the reboot, I can't wait to be able to see the final season and I've been meaning to watch the og anime) is stunning and this will have me laughing one minute and sobbing the next. 

But yes Kyo and Tohru. Oh gosh, what can I say about these two because they are everything. Period. I read something that someone said about them, and I really agree. They said something along the lines of: Tohru listens to and supports both Yuki and Kyo. But while they both tell her about their thoughts and problems, Kyo is the only one who equally supports Tohru in turn. Telling her its okay to be selfish and to talk to them about her problems.

Gah the head knocks. 

Seriously these two are the absolute sweetest and GOSH THE END OF SEASON ONE. 

Season one really teased us with that love triangle. I was a Kyo+Tohru shipper from early on but it was really the finale of that season that really solidified that they were meant to be.

I just know that this final season is going to wreck me and I'm HOPING THAT THE EPISODES WILL REALLY BE FREE A WEEK AFTER RELEASING ON FUNIMATION AHHH

new hellos

 I've always hated introducing myself. Games that are meant to break the ice would always terrify me because I would feel like the most boring person in the world.

But that was always better than actually having to come up with an introduction for myself. My name coming out of my own mouth always felt weird. 

When I got to college, I would introduce myself as "Cecilia, but you can call me Ceci or Cici." Got to give people options on what to call you.

All this to say, I have absolutely no idea how to begin this new introduction. 

Some of you may be following me from my old blog Ceci Creates. Some of you may be new faces. Whoever you are, I give you a hearty welcome and I hope you stay a while. I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do here, what I will post about, how often. 

You may get reviews, rants, life thoughts, who knows. Your guess is as good as mine. But I truly hope we can all become friends.
